NO MYSTERIES.
JUST ANSWERS.
ENGINEERED WITH PRECISION.
Everything you might ask before, during and after ordering a crate blueprint from BuildCrates.com — what you buy, what you receive, how payment works, and how your design travels from our engine to your inbox. Fifteen questions, grouped into four plain-language categories — jump straight to the one that matters to you.
The Product
01What exactly am I buying?
You are buying aparametric crate design service: a complete, engineer-computed set of blueprint files for a wooden transport crate built to the exact dimensions and material preferences you specify. What you receive isthe design itself— technical drawings, a 3D model, a parts list and the full structural specification. You arenotbuying a physical crate and no wood ever ships to your door. You take the blueprint and build the crate yourself, with your own materials and labour, anywhere in the world.
02Does BuildCrates.com sell physical crates?
No — and this is the heart of the matter. The word “crate” carries an
etymological, conditional sense: it descends from the Latincratis, meaning a lattice or grating — a structure defined by its pattern, not by any single piece of wood. In that same conditional spirit, BuildCrates.com places aconditional order: we condition our service on the design, and the design alone. What we sell isknowledge in blueprint form— the exact engineering of the lattice — so thatThe Customer(the client who purchases blueprints) may manifest the physical crate themselves. By visiting this site and placing an order you consent to, and confirm you understand, this matter in full.
03What measurements do I need to provide?
Just three numbers:Length, Width and Height in millimetres (mm). The engine accepts any realistic exterior size — from matchbox micro-crates to leviathan long-haulers. You can also choose thebuild kind — a transport crate, a coffin or casket, a
heavy-duty or children's coffin, or ascrap wood buildfrom recovered pallets — plus thematerial source, thewall modeand whether the base needsforklift skids. SeeOur Servicesfor the full range.
04What files do I actually receive?
Every order produces the same professional deliverable set, staged inreviewandretailpackages:
- Parametric viewer — a permanent save of your model on BuildCrates.com; the 3D shape is reviewed online with your order ID, no downloads.
- Blueprint PDF — dimensioned technical drawings for the shop floor, the final document you build from. Numbered cut list, sheet nesting, X-brace stencils with real 3D photos, assembly manual, humidity guide and shipping stencils.
- Render images (PNG) — visual previews of the assembled crate.
- Design specification — every parameter the engine computed, for the record.
05What is the live 3D viewer?
A dedicated page where your crate is renderedlive from your order data— no downloads, no uploads. Open the Order menu, type your order ID (dashes are added automatically), and the viewer loads your exact design in the browser. ThePartstree groups the model exactly as the CAD it came from —Frame, Lid, Skid, Wall— expand a group, then select a single part to inspect it alone, and use themeasure tool (remarks in mm)to verify any dimension. Your order ID is also included in the payment email.
Ordering & Payment
06How does the design process work, step by step?
- You tailor the exterior — set length, width, height (in millimetres), choose the crate kind, the material source, the wall mode, and whether forklift clearance is needed.
- You type in your email address — you instantly receive your order details plus your BTC invoice.
- You receive the design specifications — all technical data of the crate, plus the interior volumetric analysis.
- Payment — once you pay the invoice through BTC, we email confirmation.
- You get your blueprint — the full retail package lands in your inbox.
- You get your order ID — included in the payment email, so you can review the crate 3D design live in the parametric viewer and download your blueprint.
07What materials can the engine design with?
The engine is material-agnostic and computes for any board you describe:
- New wood — your chosen purchased material (standard Wood, Plywood, MDF or OSB) at your thickness, with board width defaulting to 100 mm.
- Scrap / pallet-rest wood — recovered through the full pallet process (collecting, disassembly and classification of same parts), then read by the Smart Sorting Engine as an inventory array (thickness, length, width per class). It automatically selects the thickest and widest pieces for load-bearing frames, the thinnest for slats, and computes optimal splice joints.
08How much does a design cost?
A design costsbasically the live equivalent of $3.00 USD per order. We don't charge a fixed amount of Bitcoin — instead, at the moment you place your order we convert $3.00 USD into Bitcoin using the current market rate, so the BTC amount you see on your invoice is the live equivalent of that $3.00 USD. Because the Bitcoin price moves every minute, the exact figure can vary slightly from order to order, but it always corresponds to roughly $3.00 USD. The precise BTC amount is shown on your invoice, so you always know exactly what you owe before you pay.
09How do I pay, and how long until it is confirmed?
Each order generates afresh, dedicated Bitcoin address. You send the exact invoice amount to that address from any wallet. Payment is considered confirmed after1 confirmation on the Bitcoin blockchain— typically a matter of minutes. No bank, no card, no third-party payment processor.
10When will I receive my files?
- Immediately on placing the order: the review package (design preview) is emailed to you, with the invoice, the technical summary and the interior volumetric analysis.
- Immediately after 1 blockchain confirmation: the retail delivery package (the complete blueprint set) is emailed to your address, together with the payment confirmation and your order ID.
Delivery & Files
11Can I change my design after ordering?
Because each design is generated fresh from the order parameters, small corrections can usually be regenerated. Write toinfo@buildcrates.comwith your order ID and the change you need. Substantial re-designs may count as a new order at the standard service price.
12Do you offer refunds?
These aredigital goods, delivered instantly— once the blueprint package has been sent to your email, the sale is final, except where required by applicable consumer-protection law. If your files fail to arrive or are corrupted, we fix that for free: contactinfo@buildcrates.comwith your order ID.
13Do you ship to my country?
Yes.The service is available inall countries and territories. Because nothing physical is shipped, there are no customs, no duties, no freight costs and no border delays — your blueprint arrives in your inbox wherever you are, as long as your email address is valid.
Building & Legal
14Can I build the crate myself from the blueprints?
That is exactly the purpose.Your license grants you the right to buildone physical cratefor your own personal or internal business use, following the blueprint, with your own materials. What you may not do is resell, redistribute or republish the blueprint files themselves — see theTerms & Conditionsfor the precise license terms.
15How is my data handled?
We collect only what the service needs: your email address, your order parameters, and the Bitcoin address/transaction used for payment. We never sell data. By visiting this site and placing an order, you consent to the practices described in ourPrivacy Policy, which applies in all countries and territories.
