The short version

We hold only what the service needs — your email, your order parameters, and the Bitcoin identifiers used for payment. We never sell it, we don't profile you, and the blockchain transparency you see on your invoice is inherent to Bitcoin itself. The fourteen sections below are the precise language.

01Overview

BuildCrates.com (“The Seller”, “we”, “us”) operates the website buildcrates.com (the “Site”) and the crate-blueprint design service (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store and protect information relating to visitors of the Site and customers of the Service (collectively, “you”). It applies to all users, in all countries and territories.

02Consent & Acknowledgment

By visiting, browsing or using the Site, and by placing an Order, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy, that you understand the matters described herein, and that you consent to the collection and use of information as described. Where we collect personal data through actions you take — such as submitting an order form, sending an email or accepting optional cookies — your consent is obtained through that clear affirmative action, in line with internationally recognised data-protection standards. You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to info@buildcrates.com, subject to our legitimate need to retain order records as described in clause 8.

03Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide and operate the Service:

  • Order information — the email address you provide, and the technical parameters of your order (build kind — transport crate, coffin/casket, heavy-duty or children's coffin, or scrap build — dimensions in millimetres, material source including the recovered scrap inventory, wall mode, wall orientation, bracing and forklift options).
  • Payment information — the Bitcoin invoice address generated for your order, the transaction ID (txid) and the confirmation status on the blockchain.
  • Technical data — standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and timestamps, used to keep the Site secure and functional.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — as described in clause 6.

We do not require or collect names, postal addresses, phone numbers, bank details, card numbers or any government-issued identifiers.

What this means for you

Your order exists as an email address, a set of design numbers, and a Bitcoin payment record. There is no profile to build, no dossier to sell, no address book to leak.

04How We Use Information
  • To generate your design and deliver the Blueprints and invoices to your email address.
  • To verify Bitcoin payments against the blockchain and update the status of your order.
  • To operate the 3D viewer, which renders your design using your Order ID.
  • To provide customer support, respond to enquiries, and re-deliver files when needed.
  • To maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise disclose your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.

05Bitcoin & Blockchain Transparency

Bitcoin is a public ledger. The address we generate for your order and the transaction you send are, by design, visible to anyone on the blockchain. This is inherent to the technology and is not something we control or conceal. What we do is simple: we use your transaction solely to confirm payment of your invoice, we do not link blockchain data to any profile, and we do not publish your address or transaction anywhere on the Site.

In plain words

The Bitcoin network itself records your payment publicly — that is how it works, for every user of Bitcoin, everywhere. What we do with that record is only ever: confirm your invoice.

06Cookies

The Site uses only essential cookies — those strictly necessary for basic operation, such as remembering UI state — which do not require consent under common frameworks such as the EU GDPR. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies (for example, analytics), we will first request your explicit opt-in through a cookie banner, and you will be able to manage or refuse them at any time.

07Third Parties

We use a small number of service providers strictly in connection with the Service: email delivery (to send your review and delivery packages), font and static-asset hosting (to render the Site), and the Bitcoin node used to generate addresses and confirm payments. Each provider receives only the minimum data needed for its function. We do not engage advertising networks, data brokers or analytics resellers.

08Data Retention

Order records — including your email address, order parameters and payment identifiers — are retained for as long as needed to fulfil the Service, maintain order history for the live viewer, and meet legal and accounting obligations, after which they are deleted or irreversibly anonymised. Server logs are retained on a rolling basis and are not used to identify individuals.

09Data Security

The Site is served over encrypted HTTPS connections. Access to the servers that generate designs and send emails is restricted and password-protected, and the Bitcoin node is not exposed to the public internet. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security; we commit to industry-appropriate safeguards and to notifying you if a breach affecting your data is confirmed.

10Your Rights

Depending on the laws applicable to you — including, where it applies, the EU GDPR and similar regimes — you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate data (for example, an email address entered at order time);
  • Delete your personal data, subject to retention obligations for order fulfilment and legal compliance;
  • Restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • Portability of data you provided, where technically feasible.

To exercise any of these rights, write to info@buildcrates.com with your Order ID (if applicable). We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

11Children

The Site and Service are not directed at children under the age of majority applicable in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12International Application & Transfers

This Privacy Policy applies to all users in all countries and territories. Because the Service is delivered digitally and payment is settled on a decentralised blockchain, no personal data is transferred across borders for the purpose of serving ads or profiling. Where any personal data is processed in a jurisdiction different from your own, we rely on appropriate safeguards and process it only for the purposes described in this policy.

13Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with its effective date. Continued use of the Site or the Service after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

14Contact

Questions about this Privacy Policy, or requests to exercise your rights, may be sent to info@buildcrates.com. Please include an Order ID where the enquiry relates to a specific order.

The bottom line

Minimum data, maximum transparency. We collect what the service needs, we use it only to serve you, we never sell it, and your Bitcoin payment is public only because the blockchain — by its very design — is public for everyone. If you ever want to see, correct or delete what we hold, one email with your order ID is all it takes.
